Accessibility Statement

This site has been developed to ensure content is available to the widest possible audience and significant redesign has been undertaken on our site in order to meet those standards that relate to access for people with disabilities or technical constraints with their browsers and internet connections. By adhering to guidelines for accessible web design, we acknowledge the diversity of communication methods, available technologies and abilities of web-users in the community.

We strive to maintain conformance to World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Navigation Aids

All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, and H2, H3 etc for hierarchical sub-headings.

All pages use a consistent navigation system on the left hand side of the page.

Links

Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target.

Wherever possible, links are written to make sense out of context. Many browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list, separately from the page.

Images

All content images include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.

Visual Design

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.

If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

Changing the Text Size

When we designed this site, we tried to use as large a text size as possible. However, we also had to make sure we could get as much information as we could on the screen to make it easier for you to find your way round the site. If you would find it helpful to have larger text, you can change this yourself by doing the following:

With Internet Explorer 6, click on View at the top of the screen and then select Text Size. You will then be able to choose Larger or Largest.

With Internet Explorer 7, click the 'page' button in your browser, click 'Text Size'and select the size you want.

With Firefox click on View at the top of the screen, then Text Size and select Increase or Decrease.
